In the room, you can see thirteen discarded (Christmas) trees, rescued from the streets. They form a thin forest around a hut built of wood. Invisible smell seeps from the wooden hut. It settles in the nostrils. Hearts from capercaillie and fillets of whitefish. Stomach of cod, and dried fruits, hang from the branches. A yeast ring with dried yeast - like a halo over the room.
The installation revolves around a traditional smoke hut and a yeast ring. The hut is activated during the exhibition, and the yeast ring has already played its role as it dries the yeast to be used in the next brew. The freezer is one-fifth full - with solo ice cream - in memory of my 216 kroneis- ice creams from the beginning of my art education. It goes full circle. A new cycle has started with the smoke hut and in the yeast ring, which will serve me food and drinks - from here and into the future.
The exhibition will host three different day-themes that can be experienced by KHIO-visitors.
TASTE THE SOLO-SHOW / Wednesday 24th
The killing of the ice-sculpture, pray for warm weather. The spring is here on repeat, and solo-ice cream for everyone.
TASTE THE YEAST / Friday 26th
Lowering of the yeast ring, poems for good bacterias and potential toast.
TASTE THE SMOKE / Sunday 28th
Smoke house activity throughout the day, serving of edible goods from the smoke.
